Lianyungang Petrochemical Process Pumping Project

A petrochemical plant in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, needed a process transfer pump for corrosive media that its existing equipment could not handle reliably. The service combined aggressive chemistry with a continuous production schedule, and the plant's experience with metal pumps on similar duties had been short service life followed by corrosion-related leakage. YFTEL was asked to provide a pump that could hold the chemistry without turning maintenance into a weekly routine.

The Challenge

Petrochemical process fluids punish the wrong pump from two directions: the chemistry attacks wetted metal surfaces, and the continuous duty cycle gives any weakness no time to rest. On this service, the fluid's corrosivity ruled out ordinary stainless steel, while the plant still needed the mechanical strength and pressure capability of a metal pump casing. Seal reliability mattered as well, since any leakage of corrosive process fluid is a safety and housekeeping problem, not merely a maintenance cost.

The Solution

YFTEL supplied an IHF80-65-160 fluoroplastic-lined centrifugal pump. The IHF design puts an F46 fluoroplastic lining inside a cast steel casing: the lining faces the process fluid and resists a wide range of acids, alkalis, and organic media across a working temperature range of -20 to 150 degrees Celsius, while the outer metal shell carries the pressure and mechanical loads like a conventional process pump. The result is a pump that installs and pipes like standard metal equipment but wets nothing except chemically inert fluoroplastic. The series covers duties up to 600 cubic metres per hour and heads to 80 metres, so the model was selected against the plant's actual duty point with margin.

Why a Lined Pump Fits Petrochemical Transfer

For corrosive petrochemical media, a lined pump solves the material problem without exotic alloy pricing. Instead of paying for corrosion resistance in every structural part, the design concentrates the resistant material exactly where the fluid touches, and uses ordinary steel where only strength is needed. That keeps both first cost and future spare-part cost under control, and it makes the pump tolerant of changing process chemistries, since F46 covers far more media than any single metal alloy.

The Result

The pump was installed and commissioned into the transfer line, and the corrosion-driven leakage and wear pattern that had ended earlier pumps did not recur. The plant now runs the service on a routine inspection schedule, with the lining and seal checked during planned stops rather than emergency callouts.

YFTEL supplies IHF lined centrifugal pumps for corrosive process transfer across the petrochemical industry. Send us your fluid, temperature, and duty point, and our engineers will confirm the lining and model for your service.
